Supplement Recommendations

Supplements and vitamins cannot take the place of making the necessary lifestyle changes to promote health and healing.

The regulation of the supplement industry is inadequate and this is why I am very cautious about what brands I will recommend to people. I have spent much time researching and understanding the differences between products due to the lack of consistency among doses, forms of nutrients, and quality. Unfortunately, the term “natural” is unregulated and has no meaning when placed on a supplement (or food!) label.

I do not use, recommend, or participate in multi-level marketing (MLM) products. I generally limit my use of products to a handful of companies of which I am very familiar with their manufacturing processes and quality standards, and can easily communicate any questions or concerns with their representatives.

Purchase products through our HealthWave virtual dispensary. In order to make acceptable quality products easily available, I have an account with HealthWave, an on-line dispensary, from which people can have their supplements shipped to them along with a detailed instruction plan. There is a 20% discount off the suggested retail price of products. I do receive a small compensation from orders to account for the time I spend researching and deciding which products are most effective and reasonably priced. You are not required to purchase supplements through this service, it is offered as a convenience.

Other options for purchasing quality supplements in the Goshen area include:

  • The medicinary at the Goshen Center for Cancer Care; they are able to ship products for a small fee, 574-364-2888.
    • 200 High Park Ave
  • Whole Foods in Mishawaka, IN
    • 4230 Grape Rd
  • Maple City Market in Goshen, 574-534-2355.
    • 314 S Main St

Why not purchase supplements at the grocery or drug store? They’re usually less expensive and I’m there frequently. Most of those products have more additives and unnecessary ingredients that may interfere with absorption and effectiveness; they are not worth spending the money. I am particularly concerned about products that contain herbs because if they are not properly manufactured, they may not be effective or contain the dose that is stated on the label. Herbs are also more susceptible to contamination with bacteria or fungus.

Or what about purchasing supplements on-line since they can be found at a much lower cost? There have been many cases of supplements purchased on-line that are contaminated or counterfeit; the bottle is labeled as a well-known and respected brand, but the product inside is not from the manufacturer. It is out of concern for safety that I do not recommend ordering from places like Amazon or other on-line retail stores other than those mentioned above.
